What’s in my makeup bag?

This little bag of tricks goes everywhere with me and contains the stuff I use every day.

Clinique Deep Comfort Hand & Cuticle Cream

Thanks to those crazy Canadian weather conditions my hands literally chap and bleed in the winter. I often use the The Body Shop’s Hemp Hand Protector but I thought I’d try this stuff from Clinique.

I also use canola oil, olive oil and shea butter on my hands.

evo Crop Strutters Construction Cream

This cream is my absolute holy grail hair product and it’s perfect for my super short do. It’s embarrassingly expensive (CA $42) but a little goes a long way. I’ll probably only buy it once, maybe twice, in a year. It gets rid of frizz and has brilliant hold.

Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment

I love Clinique’s Superbalm Lip Treatment which is tasteless and odourless. I also recently picked up MAC’s Lip Conditioner which I don’t like as much because the formula is thinner and wears off quickly.

NYX lipstick in Pure Red

Best. Lipstick. Ever. I’ve written about it in this post.

Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara

On my workout days I use this at home in the morning instead of black mascara. It gives me a tiny bit of definition.

Estée Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara

This is a sample size of my favourite mascara. I’ve yet to invest in the regular size, mostly because it means forking out CA $30. I’ve written more about this and my other favourite mascaras.

Lancôme Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer

Concealer is probably the product I rotate the most. I own about four or five which I regularly switch up depending on my mood. I keep coming back to Lancôme Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer because it’s so smooth and creamy and I can spread it everywhere. As far as me and concealer are concerned, less is definitely more.

MAC and Lancôme face powders

I don’t know why but I carry around two powders. I’m a devoted powder foundation gal (more on that in a future blog post).

MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder

This is a relatively new product for me. I wanted something less cakey than their regular Studio Fix. Apparently it’s been formulated for peeps like me and is more moisturizing than other powders. I really like it. But it definitely has to be applied sparingly.

Lancôme Translucence Face Powder

This is my absolute, all-time favourite face powder. I can’t say enough good things about it. Its only bad point is its price (CA $40). I’ve hit pan on this powder many times. It’s light, fine, wears amazingly well and has good coverage without being cakey.

MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set

I don’t have the thickest brows in the world. Unfortunately I didn’t listen to my mum who – when I was first starting to pluck my brows – told me I’d regret it and to stop immediately. And guess what? She was right. So they need a little help. I’m not a fan of brow pencils (too much work and I’m lazy) and I didn’t think I was a fan of brow mascara (which is essentially what this is) either.

I love this stuff. I use it every day. It grooms, fills and sets brows. AND it’s waterproof.

NYX Powder Blush

I’ve been using the same Estée Lauder blush for years. I spray it with a cosmetic sanitizer but it still doesn’t seem to perform as well as it should. I really should chuck it out. So I recently bought the NYX Powder Blush in Mocha based on a Paula’s Choice review. It’s cheap and looks promising.

OPI Crystal Nail File

A gal’s gotta have a nail file in her artillery. I picked up a box of 10 or something from Winners last year and they’re the best files I’ve used.

What’s in your makeup bag?

  1. I use the clear mascara as a eyebrow gel! It’s my fave bit to make my eyebrows less like my dad’s.

My standard makeup case inventory is Clinique CC cream, Clinique Redness Solutions foundation (when I am heading out), Sephora eyebrow powder, Kat Von D studded kiss lipstick in wonderchilde. I’m also obsessed with this dark purple lipstick pencil I got a trillion years ago. I also use this awesome creme blush.

Basically I’m obsessed with clinique. They’re the only makeup that tames my red, red face.

    1. Ooh! Thanks for your list Sonya.

I tried the Clinique CC cream but ended up returning it because it emphasized every pore on my face. It was a beautiful formula though. Just not for me.

I’ve got a couple of Kat Von D items on my wish list (Everylasting Liquid Lipstick) and something else I can’t remember.

I recently got a sample of a new Clinique foundation (2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting) which blew me away. I’m not generally a liquid foundation fan but I really liked it. I’ve never tried the Redness Solutions one.

I want to love cream blush but worry it will just smear my face powder everywhere. If I ever venture down that road I want to try Makeup Forever’s HD cream blush.
